i hate making these things long winded so i'm just gonna get to the basics.
went to Round 1 PHM last weekend. Here's how it went.
Overview
TL;DR
I main two games atm, IIDX and Pop'n Music. I used to main CHUNITHM, but it seems that until the maimai playtest is successful, we're not gonna see a peep of anything past ParaLost in the west.
Anyway, here's the rundown for the games I played that trip.
In regards to IIDX, I've finally broken the 5 barrier and can consistently pass them. 6es are still a challenge, however I think with enough time and premium free credits I can absolutely start moving up to the 6-7 range.
In regards to Pop'n Music, I discovered that i can pass 20s-21s pretty consistently. Nothing more to report for Popn than that. I can imagine with the combined practicing with IIDX and Popn I can absolutely progress a bit more, since chart comprehension sooorta carries over.
Learned what my most comfortable SDVX difficulty is. Seems to be around 11 with some passes at 12 if I'm warmed up enough.
I tried to play some Chuni while the IIDX and Popn cabs were being used, but quickly found out that the left Chuni cab at PHM has a busted touch sensor, so I played a scuffed set. The challenge was fun, though. Found out I can still blast through 12s even with a wonky sensor, even if my scores are just As and Bs LOL.
Scoreposts
This is where I'd put any scores if I remembered to take any images. I didnt. I'll note down to do that next time.
Conclusion
Overall this trip was pretty productive, managed to get some baseline difficulties set so I know what to aim for next time.
I plan on possibly grinding out more IIDX later so I can fast lane my way into the 7-8 range. My main hurdle seems to just be getting Used to the IIDX button layout more than anything. Once I get my playstyle down, though, it's over for everyone.
Popn's my not super serious game, but I would like to get better at it regardless. A local joint called Ratnest (check em out it's the best chillen spot in socal) has an up to date Popn cab I might play on if I ever plan on actually getting serious about it.
Sound Voltex is a fuck.
cypress, out.
